What Is Limescalefree? A Smarter Way to Tackle Limescale in Malta
A salt-free electronic descaler designed to help reduce stubborn limescale buildup in Maltese homes.
Hard water can leave deposits on taps, showers, water heaters and household appliances. Limescalefree offers a different approach: it treats water as it flows through your pipes, without adding salt or removing the minerals.
VAT included • Free standard installation where a suitable socket is within 1 metre • Other installation requirements may cost extra
Why Is Limescale Such a Problem in Malta?
When hard water is heated or evaporates, calcium carbonate can form hard deposits. Over time, those deposits can collect around showerheads and taps, on heating elements and in water-using appliances.
Water heaters & boilers
Scale on heating surfaces can interfere with heat transfer and increase maintenance needs.
Showers & taps
White crusts, blocked aerators and stubborn marks mean more cleaning.
Washing machines & appliances
Hard deposits can build up in parts exposed to heated water.
Everyday cleaning
Repeated scrubbing and descaling products can become part of your routine.

How Does Limescalefree Work?
Limescalefree is a powered electronic anti-limescale device. Two external coils are fitted around a suitable water pipe. The system generates a controlled, variable-frequency electromagnetic field intended to influence how calcium carbonate crystals form and deposit.
Important: Limescalefree is not a water softener.
It does not remove calcium or magnesium from the water. A water-hardness test will therefore still show hard water. The aim is to reduce the formation of hard, strongly adhering scale—not to change the mineral content.
There is no salt tank, filter replacement or regeneration wastewater. The device requires electricity and operates continuously once installed.

What Can You Realistically Expect?
Some households may start noticing changes in fresh deposits after roughly two to three weeks, once treated water has circulated through their system. Homes with roof tanks may take longer to show changes because the stored water must be replaced through normal use.
Not an overnight fix.
Existing deposits can take months to change, and heavy old scale may still need manual cleaning or professional servicing. Results depend on the water, plumbing layout, flow conditions and installation. No electronic descaler should be presented as a guarantee against every future plumbing problem.

How Is It Installed?
We check your property
During a free, no-obligation site visit, we look at the incoming water pipe, roof-tank arrangement, pipe access and nearby power supply.
We choose the best position
Where practical, the ideal point is just after the water meter, to cover as much downstream plumbing as possible. Other layouts may need a different approach.
We fit the device
The coils wrap around the pipe, so standard installation does not require cutting into the water line. The device then runs continuously.
Clear pricing
€350 including VAT, with a 5-year warranty. Standard installation is included when a suitable electrical socket is within 1 metre of the installation point. Additional electrical work, protective housing or non-standard fitting may cost extra; Gozo visits/installations carry an additional €50 charge. We discuss any extra cost before proceeding.

8 Years Fixing Malta's Limescale Problems. Now I'm Helping Prevent Them.
I'm Gergely Bankuti. For more than eight years, I worked in emergency plumbing across Malta. I've seen heating elements coated in scale, restricted fittings and homeowners repeatedly paying to repair problems linked to hard water.
That experience is why I started offering Limescalefree. It isn't a replacement for good plumbing or routine maintenance. It's another option worth considering when hard-scale buildup keeps coming back.
See It in Real Maltese Homes
Before deciding, look at actual installations and read what customers have experienced. Different homes have different pipework and water-storage setups, which is why we prefer to check the property rather than promise identical results everywhere.
